Create beautiful projects using inexpensive plastic domes that can be found at your local craft store. For this hack, we are going to use the plastic domes that “Wiggle Eyes” are made with. Once you have removed the backing, you can create little worlds within the domes. You can fill them with all sorts of wonderful things such as sequins, flowers and images. Please read through this post for additional tips and tricks & a project show-and-tell. I have a free digital download available for you later in this post.
I got the idea for this last summer when I was walking through a craft store. Usually, I walk right by the wiggle eye section without noticing them. This time, I realized their potential for crafting. They come in bulk, and in a variety of sizes. In addition, they are super inexpensive!
REMOVE THE BACKING
This first step is easy enough. Don’t worry if some of the backing sticks to the edges, we are going to cover that up later.

Tips For Printing Digital Downloads
Print on photo paper. I prefer glossy but you can use whatever you prefer.
Set the print resolution to “high.”
Retouch those images with colored markers
For this project, you will have to adjust the size of the image to match the dimension of the plastic domes. Wiggle eyes do not have standard sizes.

GATHER & CUT YOUR PAPERS
For this part, I used my Cricut Machine. Above is the “Sunburst Image, #M32100, Wild Card” I used along with a circle “Shape” that I placed in the center. The yellow base, that the clown is on, is bigger than the plastic dome. It is big enough to go past the edge of the dome but, not so big that it can be seen underneath the gold ring. The gold ring covers the base & the yellow circle (base) is slightly smaller the gold base…I think you got that! Save the gold center for the Halo. I will show you how to cut them by hand.
If you use the Sunburst Image, Cricut.com, you will be asked to pay a small fee. Hummingbird Traveler Studio is an affiliate of Share-A-Sale & Cricut.com. HOW TO MAKE PAPER HALOS
These look tricky to make but, once you’ve made a few then you can knock them out pretty quickly.

BUILD YOUR MASTERPIECE!
- Glue the halo & image onto the base. Let it completely dry.
- Extra step, glue sequins to the back. Stay within the area of the halo.
- Glue on the flowers.
- Pile on the glitter, confetti & sequins. Maintain that pile until everything is glued and dried.
- Glue on the dome & gold ring on top of that.
- Finish with gluing on the yellow ring.
